Albert Fink gained great success as a composer in the city after discovering shimmers of light that provided music from other artists in different time periods.[2] He made his own covers of famous songs in the style of the era.[3] With the help of the Barbershop Quartet, he presented "his" newest song "God Only Knows".

During the 1912 Columbia Raffle and Fair, the quartet stopped on various locations in the city to perform.

After entering Columbia, Booker DeWitt travels through the Town Center in order to find and retrieve a girl on Monument Island. While walking on New Eden Square, a hovering gondola carrying the singing group arrives. A couple is dancing near by to the music, and if the player likes, Booker can stay and listen as well. After the song is finished, the quartet continues their tour.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • Unknown to Booker, or likely any of the citizens, the song the quartet performs is a cover of "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys from 1966. This is likely because Albert Fink exploited Tears to plagiarize music from alternate times and realities.
    • According to Ken Levine, the song choice was inspired from the ending scene in the 1997 film Boogie Nights.[4]
  • The barbershop quartet was based on the quartet from the 1962 musical film The Music Man.[5]
  • From a pre-release build of the game, the barbershop quartet can be seen in the Town Center, named "The BEE Sharps" on their poster. This is a combination of the musical note "B sharp" and Fink's personal creed: "be the bee".
    • In addition, a stand featuring records from Albert Fink's Magical Melodies has been removed.[6]
