The Factory Docks.

The Factory Docks.

The Factory Docks, or Fink's Private Docks, is the docking port at Fink MFG's Factory in Columbia.

History[]

The Factory was the center of large manufactured production in Finkton. The raw materials needed for production and the finished products created within the Factory were received and shipped via Finkton Docks. The Factory Docks, on the other hand, were reserved for Jeremiah Fink himself, so that he could arrive at his offices without having to interact with his lowly workers. Other high-ranking officials and prospective investors could also use the docks to take the short walk to meet with Fink.

Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth do spend a tense moment on and around the Factory Docks during the events of the Vox Populi uprising. Just as Elizabeth unlocks the doors from Fink's office, she notices the situation going on in the towering central docking structure where The First Lady is anchored, calls Bookers name and sprints towards it. In a window, Jeremiah Fink is seen begging for his life as Daisy Fitzroy points a gun at him. A child, Jeremiah Fink's son, is cowering next to him. A shot goes off, and the tyranny of Fink comes to an end. Daisy, steps up to the glass and swipes Fink's blood from the window, smearing it over her face, ending their final confrontation. Looking at Booker and Elizabeth, Fitzroy calls for the "imposters" to be killed, as Fink's son runs to cover in the dimly-lit dock. With no time to take in what they just witnessed, Booker and Elizabeth are forced to fight for their lives as Fitzroy's words have summoned a small army of Vox Soldier, including a Fireman and during the heat of the battle: a Handyman.

Once the final enemy has fallen, the screams of Fink's son can be heard echoing in the area. Elizabeth runs ahead, and sees through the glass door that Fitzroy is holding the boy at gun point. Elizabeth panics at the sight, stating that they "have to act" and asks Booker to boost her so she can enter a vent, which leads in to the dock and for him to distract Fitzroy by the door. Booker does as she says and gets Fitzroy's attention by questioning her social movement. Fitzroy approaches the glass, holding the boy and covering his mouth, stating that to end the Founders, they have to be "pulled up from the roots", referring to the boy and pointing the gun to his head. As she does so, she gasps and lets go of the boy, falling over and struggling. Fink's son open's the door and escapes, as light fills the Dock, showing Elizabeth covered in blood and holding a pair of scissors, looking at Fitzroy's dead body. Realizing the situation, Booker cautiously tries to comfort Elizabeth. Having just killed someone directly for the first time, Elizabeth is in shock and reacts hostilely to Booker before finding herself and running off through the doors to the boarding corridor and onto The First Lady, Booker at her tail. In death, Daisy Fitzroy honors their deal, as Booker and Elizabeth can board The First Lady and attempt to once again escape Columbia. On board The First Lady, Booker tries to talk to Elizabeth, who closed herself in the "museum" part of the airship. With no answer, he heads to the bridge and sets course. Elizabeth emerges, still holding the pair of scissors she ended Fitzroy with, but also her ponytail which she cut off and more notably: wearing the dress of Lady Comstock. As Booker comforts her, the ship's statue of Comstock comes to life in the form of music and Elizabeth's former guardian the Songbird arrives. With no time to react, the Songbird attacks the airship, forcing it to crash in Port Prosperity of Emporia.

The Port[]

The Port is located atop the factory, centering around Fink's Private Dock. This central Dock, used by Fink and his guests, is surrounded by a walkable area encompassing the factory's massive chimneys. A Sky-Line loops around the area in an oval shape, providing access to an upper docking platform positioned above a control station and a Telescope. During the battle that takes place here, Booker can utilize various resources scattered throughout the area. These include weapons like the Volley Gun, RPG, and Sniper Rifle, along with Salts, a Medical Kit, and environmental tools such as a Tesla Coil and a Sniper Rifle Tear. There are several places for cover, as the area is filled with large pipes and light blue light fixtures under bell jars, sticking out from the floor, as well as two Freight Hooks. Additionally, a Dollar Bill vending machine is situated beneath the central Dock.

The Dock[]

The Dock, or Fink's Private Dock, is a docking station set in the central of the area, with a pathway leading to it directly from Fink's office. The towering structure consists of three rooms: The room where Fitzroy kills Fink, which is otherwise empty except for his corpse and the Voxophone Apology; the entrance where Elizabeth kills Fitzroy which leads to the boarding corridor where The First Lady is docked; and a small workshop containing an Infusion on a workbench. The structure itself is connected to the four giant chimneys and adorned with two rapidly turning clocks, symbolizing the escalating chaos within the area.

Strategy[]

  • Make sure you've done everything you want in this area before you enter The First Lady, as there is no going back once you enter.
  • The enemies will spawn directly after Daisy Fitzroy's command when having killed Jeremiah Fink. While the story leads the player to immediately head for the window, the player can avoid the area and set up Vigor traps and scout the area before heading there, as the event will only trigger once the player is present. This can be useful when doing for instance the 1999 Mode challenge.
    • The enemies in this area are Soldiers, a Fireman, and a Handyman. The Handyman will arrive a bit later mid-battle.
  • Use your newly acquired Undertow Vigor (found in the Office of Jeremiah Fink) to drag and push Soldiers and the Fireman off the city, killing them instantly. Save your resources for the Handyman. Salts are the only resource found in multiple locations in this area.
    • A Gunship will appear from the left side of the Factory once Fitzroy has made her command, carrying the Fireman and Soldiers, which will dock at the upper docking platform. While the enemies are on the Gunship or upper platform they are easy to push off.
  • For strategies on how to fight the Handyman, see the main page.
    • This area has a Sky-Line and Freight Hooks, which should be used while fighting the Handyman, as the player is an easy target on ground and can easily be cornered. The upper docking platform is also a useful location to escape to via the Sky-Line.

Elizabeth ventures here through a Tear from Rapture when she is forced to retrieve a sample of hair in Jeremiah Fink's secret laboratories. She arrives on The First Lady shortly before Booker and herself did and disembarks at the Docks. While climbing through an Air Vent, she passes next to the room where Jeremiah Fink and his son were held hostage by Daisy Fitzroy during the Vox Populi's assault. She overhears Daisy in counsel with Rosalind and Robert Lutece. Daisy offers her gratitude for what the two have done to set in motion the revolution against Comstock and the Founders, but flat out refuses to take the life of Fink's son along with his father's.

The Luteces correct Daisy, that she misunderstood their agreement; they never said that she must hurt the child or that she would be the one that takes down Comstock, instead that she has to die for her revolution. Daisy is unsure, but the Luteces tell her that the future she envisions is possible if she makes the right choice. The Luteces then explain that a girl is coming, and in order to change the world, the girl must leave a woman. They then ask: "What makes the difference between a girl and a woman?" Daisy answers with "blood," and then asks them how to proceed. They tell Daisy to give the girl no choice. After the conversation, the light flickers and the Luteces disappear. Daisy walks out of the room, while the Finks are still bound and gagged.

Elizabeth continues through the vents and emerges outside. She finds members of the Vox inspecting the immediate area, already familiar to Elizabeth. One agent holds a group of citizens at gun point citing The People's Voice and forcing them to sing the praises of Daisy Fitzroy and the Vox, while scrubbing the deck. Further along is Fink's office.

When Elizbeth returns with the Hair Sample, the area will be in the state left by her previous self and Booker DeWitt: The Vox Soldiers, Fireman and Handyman lay dead in the aftermath of battling with them. Daisy Fitzroy and Jeremiah Fink's bodies are where they were lastly seen in the main game. The First Lady is still docked, but as Elizabeth approaches along the boarding corridor, the vessel departs before her eyes. As The First Lady disappears out of view, one can hear the Songbird attack the airship, signaling the crash of Booker and Elizabeth's former selves into Emporia. Fortunately for Elizabeth, the Tear leading back to Rapture remains open at the end of the boarding corridor and Dr. Suchong allows her to pass through and continue her journey.

Security Zeppelin[]

A Security Zeppelin with stolen goods, commandeered by the Vox is docked opposite The First Lady, which will be gone by the time Booker and her former self arrive at the area in the main game. Elizabeth can get on by utilizing the Sky-Line by landing on the upper platform next to the zeppelin or on the wing itself. While approaching the interior, two Vox Soldiers will emerge and if left undisturbed, will jump down and have a discussion about the morality about their looting. On board, Elizabeth will find killed Founder solders among a vast amount of stolen goods, filling up the Zeppelin's gondola. Mostly consisting of crates, some noteworthy "valuable lookin" items are seen sticking out, including a golden George Washington bust, a taxidermy boar head mount, a double bass, two golden statues of Jeremiah Fink and a saluting Soldier, a lockpick by a cracked-open Safe, a golden circular Fink Manufacturing sign, and three large paintings. On a crate near the paintings is Fitzroy's Voxophone Sacrifices.

New Discoveries[]

Voxophones[]

  1. Daisy Fitzroy - Sacrifices - On the Security Zeppelin docked opposite to The First Lady.
  2. Daisy Fitzroy - The Quality of Mercy - The Dock, in the small workshop.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • The BioShock Infinite Signature Series Guide, refer to this area as the "cargo distribution platform",[1] which is misleading. The platform functions primarily as a private dock for Fink and his visitors, with no visible infrastructure for cargo handling. There is no access from the factory for moving goods; the only door to the platform leads directly to Fink's office.
The glitched brooch.

The glitched brooch.

  • In BioShock Infinite, Elizabeth's brooch will glitch and change into what appears to be the current bloody Elizabeth's face texture. The glitch will start as soon as Elizabeth enters the vent and ends when she has changed clothes on The First Lady.
  • In BioShock Infinite, if Booker dies in this area he will not be revived by Elizabeth, but has to exit his office's door, which will be situated opposite to the Dollar Bill machine under the central dock.
  • There are some design differences between this area in BioShock Infinite and Burial at Sea - Episode 2, due to the fact that Burial at Sea - Episode 2 was written and produced after BioShock Infinite:
    • The ventilation system found in the dock's boarding corridor in Burial at Sea - Episode 2, that Elizabeth uses to pass by the locked door, is not present in BioShock Infinite.
      • Also, with the way the ventilation system is laid out, it shouldn't have its end where it is in the game, but much lower.
    • While Daisy Fitzroy uses a Pistol to kill Fink and threaten his son in BioShock Infinite, the gun found next to her body in Burial at Sea - Episode 2 is a Hand Cannon. This is due to the fact that the Pistol is not included in the player's arsenal in Burial at Sea.
      • The model does however exist in the DLC, as it can be seen on a barrel in the room where Fitzroy talks with the Luteces.
    • Jeremiah Fink's unnamed son is seen wearing a suit during BioShock Infinite, but during Burial at Sea - Episode 2, he is seen in a shirt and overalls, moments before the player would encounter him in BioShock Infinite.
    • The Telescope and Freight Hooks present in BioShock Infinite are not present during Burial at Sea - Episode 2.
    • The scissors Elizabeth uses to kill Fitzroy with are present on a workbench inside the Dock's small workshop during Burial at Sea - Episode 2, which are not present during BioShock Infinite.
    • There is a swinging pendulum part of the gears seen from the window above the room where Fitzroy kills Fink. In BioShock Infinite, the pendulum is in front of the gears facing the window, while in Burial at Sea - Episode 2 it is behind the gears, cutting into the gears while swinging in a physically impossible way.
