Grenades are the ammunition used the by the Grenade Launcher in BioShock, and the ammunition used by the Launcher in BioShock 2. The "Frag Grenades" featured in BioShock are crude IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) consisting of tin cans filled with explosives, while the Grenades in BioShock 2 are professionally manufactured ordinance, consisting of an actual grenade encased in a rocket shell. There are three different types of grenades.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • The Nitro Splicers in BioShock uses the tin can grenades as throwables when attacking.
  • In the remastered version of BioShock, featured in BioShock: The Collection, part of the text on the sardine can reads: "There certainly seems to be a lot of tiny little type ADAM, here which we simply can't see well enough to duplicate accurately from the original low-rez game engine texture, [illegible]". This a note left by Blind Squirrel Games, the company behind the remastered version of the game.
