Mary-Catherine[1] "Jasmine" Jolene was an exotic dancer at Eve's Garden in Fort Frolic, and is the biological mother of Jack. She was Andrew Ryan's mistress, and when she became pregnant by Ryan, Frank Fontaine purchased the embryo using Brigid Tenenbaum as his agent. Jasmine didn't seem to know of Fontaine's involvement, but Ryan brutally killed Jasmine after discovering the arrangement.
BioShock
When Jack explores Eve's Garden in Fort Frolic he sees several ghost scenes of Jasmine Jolene. As he explores backstage he finds a locked door and sees the shadows of Andrew Ryan and Jasmine as she is pleading with him; a flashback to when she was murdered. When he enters the room he finds Jasmine's corpse on the bed, with the murder weapon (a lead pipe) and Andrew Ryan's pipe and shoes still present at the scene.
