A Press Kit is a pre-packaged set of promotional materials that provide information about a person, company, organization or cause and which is distributed to members of the media for promotional use. Press Kits were produced for BioShock, BioShock 2, BioShock Infinite, and BioShock: The Collection and sent to selected media outlets prior to the games' releases.

BioShock Press Kit[]

Content[]

The content of the Press Kit is the following:[1][2][3]

  • A box, meant to mimic a post box sent from Rapture, with a "damaged by water" stamp on it (not on every box).
  • A CD and sleeve cover, meant to mimic the appearance of a Rapture Records brand LP record, containing promo photos and trailers.
  • A Plasmid Syringe and an envelope package.
  • A Kashmir Restaurant-themed "after dinner mints" tin.
  • A booklet, in several languages, featuring:

  • The Rapture Visitor Information Card for Fort Frolic names Eve's Garden as "Eve's Apple", which was the original name for the venue.

BioShock 2 Press Kit[]

Content[]

The content of the Press Kit is the following:[4]

  • An envelope, featuring the name of the receiver, a stamp reading "Rapture Atlantic - Feb 5 2009 - No 12 Meter", a postage stamp of Andrew Ryan, and the lighthouse logo.
  • A CD and sleeve, reading "You are cordially invited to return to Rapture" and blood stained, containing a first look a the game.
  • A leather luggage tag with the game's logo and a partially burned "Fly Atlantic" information note reading "Chris Armstrong" and an undamaged one.

  • The Andrew Ryan postage stamp uses his BioShock Audio Diary portrait, although with a much higher hairline.

BioShock Infinite Press Kit[]

Content[]

The content of the Press Kit is the following:[5]

  • An envelope containing a box (stamped with the game's logo, the Columbia Customs & Excise logo, and reading "To: Booker DeWitt - USA"), meant to mimic Booker DeWitt's box he receives at the start of the game.
  • A content booklet featuring characters, locations, and game mechanics.
  • A pouch containing a USB-stick, mimicking the appearance of Elizabeth's bird/cage cameo, containing game facts and trailers.
  • Three Columbia advertising stickers: Monument Island, the Hall of Heroes Memorial Gift Shop, and the First Lady's Aerodrome.
  • Postcards of Monument Tower, the coordinates to New York City, and the combination in which order to ring the bells at the lighthouse.
  • A photograph of Elizabeth, reading "Bring to New York Unharmed".
  • Two Vigor pins, featuring the logo of Possession and Undertow
  • A keychain replica of the Monument Tower bird/cage key (which opens the door in the Specimen Observation library, given to Elizabeth by Booker in-game).
  • A cloth Father Comstock banner.

BioShock: The Collection Press Kit[]

Content[]

The content of the Press Kit is the following:[6][7]

  • A numbered box (1 of 450) with a sleeve that folds open.
  • A content booklet, featuring game descriptions, screenshots, Rapture advertising and concept art.
  • A two-sided poster, one side has the Rapture Masquerade Ball 1959 poster and the other has an advertising poster for the Devil's Kiss Vigor.
  • A two-sided lighthouse coin, one side has a lighthouse above a city (Rapture), reading "All good things of this earth flow into the city" (The text is seen when entering the Welcome Center with the Bathysphere at the start of the game). The other side has a city above a lighthouse (Columbia), reading "There's always a lighthouse, a man, a city" (said by Elizabeth in the Sea of Doors).
