Source for several of the pictures?

There are two pictures in the gallery here that are not sourced and I do not believe they are high res screen shots. The first one (Game-bioshockcollection-screen1-large.jpg) looks to be a screen shot from the BSC trailer, but as far as I can tell the trailer does NOT have remastered material in it. The other pic is Game-bioshockcollection-screen2-large.jpg. sm --Solarmech (talk) 12:13, July 4, 2016 (UTC)

The Big Sister image is indeed from the trailer and doesn't really show anything new. But the Big Daddy one shows new wallpanels in Footlight Theater and additional wall details. It wasn't among the screenshots 2K published, so I'm not sure how the website that shared it got their hands on it. Regardless, here's the source for that image: http://www.gamersky.com/showimage/id_gamersky.shtml?http://img1.gamersky.com/image2016/07/20160701_lyx_285_6/gamersky_01origin_01_2016711453A1D.jpg

Gamescon gameplay videos

2K Games held play sessions of BioShock and BioShock 2 during Gamescon last week. You can get hold of Bio 1's here: https://www.twitch.tv/2k/v/84268332?t=01h04m10s (from beginning to Neptune's Bounty). BiO 2's here: https://www.twitch.tv/2k/v/84268332?t=05h13m16s (from beginning to Ryan Amusements).

As it seems and in addition to the improved textures and models, HUD assets (Plasmids, weapons, items, audio diary portraits, etc...) were redrawn for higher resolutions. Also the sound bug for the vending machine in Bio 2's main campaign has finally been fixed. Pauolo (talk) 21:24, August 22, 2016 (UTC)

Scrapped bust model

It seems that the Andrew Ryan bust model we saw in the promotional screenshot of The Lighthouse was scrapped and replaced with a model looking visually closer to the original.

--Shacob (talk) 15:13, September 17, 2016 (UTC)

I had the impression they replaced the model before release. Glad to have confirmation about that. Pauolo (talk) 17:50, September 17, 2016 (UTC)
I think it may have been due to fan reaction from how "bewildered" the face looked in the promos, so it was altered again to resemble the original. I personally think that while the original bust was iconic, it did always have that kind of face. I originally wanted to make a replica bust of it for my own, but when I studied the model, I notice it had so many disproportionate flaws to it, that it would throw me off on how it looked nothing like Ryan's regular model(which also had some errors of its own). Among the flaws, the bewildered face was an attempt to fix the eyes and brows. The original's face had "Buffy Vampire" brows; the brow is too shallow and too close to the eyes, and the eyes having an unatural curve to them between the brows that looked like a mesh error from manipulating the expression. The jaw around the neck is unnaturally wide from being turned, giving him that Charles Foster Kane look, and his head around the forehead is much rounder. As subtle as those changes are, its surprising that no one mentions how tiny his head is compared to how large and wide his shoulders and coat are.
As for the one in the remaster, it does look more fixed while retaining his original appearance, and looks closer to his Audio Diary portrait than any of the models from the previous games. Evans0305 (talk)
I agree that the original bust in The Lighthouse had a strange look about it. I definitely see the look of bewilderment, but I also registered it as a look of contempt (which isn't exactly out of character for Andrew Ryan). How strange it would be for an immigrant to Rapture to see that first on their way into the city, lol.

Issues

It's disappointing to say that BioShock Remastered does not do its original justice, except perhaps in the amount of bugs, glitches, and crashes. Please list issues you've encountered here, as well as the platform. If you've experienced a similar issue on the same platform, please add [verified].

 • Icon pc Crash when researching a Bouncer during Worlds of Hurt in the Challenge Rooms. (Also BSOD crash)
 • Icon pc Resolution stuck; Incorrect resolution is chosen by the game and refuses to set the resolution to anything but 1280 by 720 (1280 by 800).
 • Icon pc Severe lag when exploring new areas.
I am not experiencing those particular bugs, though I'm experiencing crashes after saving. I am able to research all enemies in Worlds of Hurt including the Bouncer, resolution selection works better than the original Bioshock in particular the aiming reticules are perfectly circular, lag is so-so for new areas.
There are also bugs that are still present from the original like killing Cohen in his apartment and Cohen coming back to life after attacking his Quadtych, the Chomper's Dental bug with pressing the buzzer etc.
There are other new bugs like the arm from the smoking woman blocking Sander Cohen from examining the Quadtych and the crypt in the Tea Garden having both torches already lit.
I don't know which bugs can be confirmed or if they will be addressed in a patch,

Patches

Any idea where to put the latest patch?

It would normally go under the disambiguation page for Patches, but Template:Media is getting rather full. UpgradeTech (talk) 02:59, October 7, 2016 (UTC)

What Was The Point?

The recent addition of all of the Bugs, Glitches, and "Changes" to this article really pisses me off. Not because someone went and compiled them, but because each is a crack that reveals a rushed effort instead of the polished masterpiece this collection should have been.

1080p is great but it was a foregone conclusion that this feature would be there (I'd understandably be shock if it wasn't). The director's commentary was a nice plus, but what else was actually added to make this a "remastered" edition? Compare/contrast this to when Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes was remade from the original Playstation version for the Gamecube; it was a huge leap in technology. Meanwhile, the original 2007 BioShock still mostly looks great compared with the new. Did anyone really care about more seaweed? Even if moth holes likely should've been found in banners or sea creatures found around the city in the original, did either necessitate a re-release?

And think of what the fans were really hoping, asking, demanding: an original model for Brigid Tenenbaum and Julie Langford (not just a reused Lady Smith, an original model for Frank Fontaine, a more refined gauntlet run in the Proving Grounds, an improved final boss battle against Fontaine, etc. Any of those would've been better than these paltry cosmetic additions. The sheer number of glitches underscore how slipshod this whole effort was, to me at least.

Have to agree with you. They didn't do a lot of things they should have. Some new models for important characters being a big one. I mean they already HAD a high poly model for Atlas done in Burial at Sea. Instead they use a *stock* splicer model for Atlas and don't even reskin him. Maybe that's a reason that Ken Levine was NOT asked to give any input on Remaster. They didn't want him trying to get stuff done that 2K (or someone else) didn't want to pay for. sm --Solarmech (talk) 12:54, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

If I'm honest I don't think BioShock needed a remastered version. It looks fine, even in today's standard. The only thing I really wanted was a unique character model for every major character. I would have been happier if they did absolutely nothing to the main game except for updating the models. I don't quite understand why they didn't do this, at least for Tenenbaum. I recall them sharing this image sometime before the remastered was released, if I'm not mistaken, which really got my hopes up. I was a little let down that we didn't get to see her in Burial at Sea (which btw, Anne Bobby was hired for Burial at Sea and she voiced the narrator for Sex Without Compromise, which can't be what they intended Bobby to do from the start), so I was excited to hear about the remastered to finally get to see her pre-BioShock 2. She didn't get a model because of budget constraints in the original, so what was their reason now??? I would have even been fine with them just slapping a photo of Geraldine Fitzgerald on her model and called it a day. What even bugs me more is that they completely re-did Andrew Ryan's model! I mean come on! While it looks great, why stop there! They even updated the Thinker statue! They also barely touched BioShock 2 and left Infinite as it is, which could have used some minor polishing. I think the sole reason for the remastered was to port it to PS4 and Xbox One and of course to get more cash... I wish they would have listened to fans, cuz I know that we weren't silent on the matter of models. Can someone start a petition for them to update some models, because I still want that!

--Shacob (talk) 13:32, September 3, 2018 (UTC)

It bothers me that it has flaws that the originals did not. It looks nicer, but overall has more issues. They were meant to be the definitive versions, but aside from graphics and the new golden film reels, the originals are probably better to play. I would think that some of these issues would be noticed by the developers, but it seems they either didn't notice them or didn't care. It sort of reminds me of the Master Chief Collection, but at least they fixed most of the problems in that game. (Kelis98 (talk) 21:36, September 3, 2018 (UTC))

My mark

The first game on the version collection, as for me, was poor. The game could really improve the graphics and animation, but it turned out terribly. Colors are too saturated, the game looks like. Could actually improve the animation of the characters, but not only did the developers not improve, they also spoiled it. Especially terrible treatment was with the sisters the original version is more peasing to the eye.
