I know what Comstock was referring to. He was talking about when Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden of Eden. And when Noah built the Ark to protect the animals and his family while the sinners were swept away by the flood. ZanyDragon (talk) 18:32, October 13, 2013 (UTC)
The missing part of his argument is how the 'cruelty' is just (at least on God's part). But he (Comstock) is playing God himself and he doesn't bother to mention how "tax the black more than the white/forbid the mixing of the races/give the vote to the white man, and deny it to the yellow, the black, the red, and the brown:" is supposed to be Justice. The Bible at least gives quite full evidence about why God took the actions upon Adam and Eve and Drowning the world in the time of Noah.
The conflicting part of the whole (contrived) plot is of this building of the 'white people' paradise (Columbia), then why did they allow all the other 'lesser' races even on board ?? Building and maintaining it should be the task/high-achievement of the 'white man' alone, shouldn't it? (and in the context of this story, the tech stuff from Tears should have made that possible....)
But when all is said and done, this is a shoot-em-up blast-fest game, and logic/reason is not to get in the way of generating a situation where gunplay is the main action.
The class war shown in the original previews were much more interesting/promising than this later divergence into "religious fanaticism" and then into the pseudo-science multiverse weirdness. It bears no resemblance to the reality of the 1912-era America -- the issues they originally portrayed it was to be about. In their rush to meet a publishing deadline/budget the whole thing turned into a contorted irrelevant mess.
