The Mid-Nyte Ryde on KZUR is a radio talk show hosted by DJ Blackjack Nevil. Its program is devoted to exploring weird and "spooky" phenomenon, from UFOs to strange current news.

There's Something in the Sea[]

Main article: There's Something in the Sea

In June 1968, Blackjack interviewed Phil Isidore about the recent wave of kidnappings of young girls and the connection to the Vanishing years before. Mark Meltzer recorded this interview for his research. In January 1969, The Mid-Nite Ryde ran a story about the escape of Orrin Oscar Lutwidge from Tollevue Hospital.

Phil Isidore Interview - Listen[]

Blackjack: "-- And we're back. You're listening to the Mid-Nite Ryde with Blackjack Nevil on KZUR. My guest tonight is Phil Isidore of the National U.F.O. Society. Now Phil, I wanted to finish what we were talking about before the break."

Phil: "Abductions, kidnappings, disappearances!"

Blackjack: "Riiight."

Phil: "Well, I think it's really provocative. We get our first real reports of so-called flying saucers, and right about the same time there's this wave of unexplained disappearances."

Blackjack: "And there's been something more recent?"

Phil: "Absolutely. There's been a recent wave of children, young girls! And I've been doing some research on this with some other people, and there's this constant theme of strange lights, red lights! mostly near the coastlines."

Blackjack: "Ooh, spooky. Well, let's go to the phone lines and see what folks are saying."

Lutwidge Escape Story - Listen[]

"Today's big headline from the world of the weird, breakout and murder at Tollevue Mental Hospital in New York City. An orderly was brutally slain in an escape attempt by a long term patient. The alleged perpetrator is conspiracy researcher and inventor Orrin Oscar Lutwidge, though he may be better known to you Mid-Nite Ryders under his alias, science fiction author R. Killian Quain. Orrin Lutwidge is believed to be armed, and veeery dangerous. Police warn former associates that Lutwidge may be seeking assistance. Call 1-877-294-4040 for further information. That's 1-877-294-4040. Keep your doors locked, and your ears open. We'll be right back with more of the Mid-Nite Ryde, live on KZUR."
