Co-Op Enemies: Sentry Splicer

So, new blog post! This time, only two months after the last one. This one's on another Splicer of my own, the Sentry Splicer, whose singleplayer version you can check out by clicking the link. The idea behind the Sentry Splicer was to have a tall, powerful elite enemy with enough stopping power to force the player(s) to cover, yet slow enough to be outmaneuvered. Moreover, the kit I gave the Sentry Splicer grants it the ability to harass players from behind cover, preventing them from staying safe for long. In a co-op situation (see here) the Sentry Splicer would be more easily overcome, and so would have to he able to better deal with multiple targets. Hopefully, this is what you'll see in this post:

Co-Op Enemies: Sly Splicer

It's now been almost exactly three months since I last posted one of these. I figured I'd get one more out before BioShock Infinite hits the shelves, thus creating the biggest activity boom on this wiki since 2010. If you don't know what a Sly Splicer is, that's because it's not a canon Splicer. I came up with it in this article, as one of the elite-type enemies for the singleplayer portion of this idea dump. The idea was to create a minion master-type enemy who'd cause more trouble the more he's surrounded by allies of his. In a singleplayer setting, his main purpose would be to try and overwhelm the player with waves of Splicers, but in co-op he'd serve as a focal point in big fights, much like a Brute or a Sentry Splicer (another Splicer…

Co-Op Enemies: Brute Splicer

This took more time than expected. But anyways, onto the Brute Splicer: as opposed to most other enemies, the Brute Splicer's appeal comes from his overall fighting style, and not just the particular mechanic he ascribes to. He's an incredibly versatile enemy type, able to attack the player from any distance using a variety of different abilities. In BioShock 2 he truly was the game's miniboss. Unfortunately, though, towards the end he became a pushover, to the point where the developers had to send Brutes in droves just to hold the player up. In a co-op mode, these'd be the centerpiece of tough Splicer fights, and so would have to remain challenging throughout the whole game. Most of the changes I propose here are designed to not only make…

Co-Op Enemies: Hypno Splicer

As a horror shooter, BioShock (and its sequel, to a lesser extent) liked to occasionally play tricks on the player, silently spawning enemies next to them at certain points and even duping them into helping people who then try to kill them. Well-realized as those events are, though, they are all scripted, and wouldn't be as effective in co-op, where your partner may already know what's ahead. Additionally, the very nature of co-op presents the potential for the game to turn the players against each other. To this intent I came up with a Splicer designed for the sole purpose of messing with the player's minds: the Hypno Splicer.

Co-Op Enemies: Pharma Splicer

While we're all still waiting patiently for a morsel of news regarding BioShock Infinite, I figured I'd come back from two months of lurking on the wiki to continue with the Idea Dump. Now, onto the Pharma Splicer: if the name's unfamiliar to you, that's because it's not a Splicer from the actual games, rather, it's one of the types I came up with (see here). The premise with this Splicer type is that it heals its friends in combat, forcing you and your teammate (this is co-op I'm talking about) to adapt accordingly. Since it'd be a lot easier to focus on two enemies at once in such a situation, the Pharma Splicer would have to evolve the ability to deal with both players simultaneously.
