Hi, welcome to the BioShock Wiki! Thanks for your edit to the File:Vox code.jpg page.

Need some help finding your way around? Here are some good places to look:

New to editing?

Feel free to ask an administrator or a featured user, or leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! Willbachbakal (talk) 01:42, May 28, 2013 (UTC)

Contributions Edit one's said anything, but thanks for your many contributions to the wiki in the short time you've been here.

BioShock Infinite Levels Edit

I should thank for the mass editing you've been providing to the pages of Infinite's various locations, most articles related to the game need a look-over if not a complete revision. Still, it has been a week since I posted on a blog my proposition to list the levels according to specific critters (themes, objectives and how the official guide look over it). It appeared evident to me that no one gave a damn to the matter except Unownshipper. Still, as it seems I finally caught your attention, maybe giving your opinion on said blog would be less rude than simply reediting the template without any explanation.

I'm expecting you to give feedback on the said blog. Pauolo (talk) 20:37, October 5, 2013 (UTC)

You know, my intentions were not to scold you but to get your opinion on this level listing. That's also why I asked the opinion of the other contributors on my blog. If you think some level places should be merged, or on the contrary some should be added to the locations template, you can share your thoughts with me, I'm open for constructive criticism.
Pauolo (talk) 08:33, October 6, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. ZanyDragon (talk) 14:02, October 6, 2013 (UTC)

Spear Image Edit

What does the image you uploaded have to do with the Spear page. It has the caption "Finding Spears" below it. Am I missing something?

Unownshipper (talk) 16:03, October 31, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry. Where were you going to put it? ZanyDragon (talk) 00:37, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

No problem.  (how it got associated with 'Spears'....)

I was going to add it somehow to the Rapture Businesses as some kind of indirect mention (The little rectangle above the non-QWERTY keyboard says 'Ryan'  if you look closely -- possibly implying its a label of the manufacturer ??....  And that machine is a keypunch - used to punch the standard punchcards for computers - so then would  one of Ryans companies be producing Computer related products...) Respawning AreaEdit

"Man, oh Man. If only I knew how to record from the Xbox 360, then I could show you visually."

Well describe what and where it is (game/location/etc..)  and possibly what it is you do to make it happen.  I have alot of saves for BS1/BS2 that would probably have me close to see it pretty quick Testxyz (talk) 07:07, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

Articles for Concept Art Edit

I'm just letting you know that even though you're finding some good images of unused concepts, most of the Admins limit the inclusion of concept art as a article page, since the only acceptable way for them would be that they had a model, or were close to being made. Most of these look like they were mostly conceptualized when IG was still working with the game's themes before finalizing with Infintie's signature story, kinda like what they did with BioShock before its genetics were finalized as ADAM and Splicers. I'm doing what I can to fill them out, but even through that, it looks like two out of three articles you added would only remain here, and it would depend if one of our veteran Admins will see it to valuate if all of those will remain. Its best that you don't make any further article pages for whatever unused concepts ones you keep finding, and that any that you do should either fit in The Art of BioShock Infinite page, or with their related finalized characters. Evans0305 (talk) 20:08, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

Tommy Gun in Burial at Sea. Edit

Just saw your post on Mega's talk page about the Tommy Gun icon. Still, more than knowing where to place the picture, I'm not really sure whether this weapon should be added to the Machine Gun (Rapture) page as it references it, or to the Machine Gun (Columbia) page as it is really a Triple R Machine Gun with a different texture, like all other weapons in Burial at Sea (except of course of the Radar Range).

That said, I might have to redo the weapons and Plasmids/Vigors templates as we can no longer just separate them by cities/universes. Maybe a general template for weapons in all 3 games and one for both Plasmids and Vigors would be more practical. Jeez that DLC complicated things more than how they should have been, just because Irrational Games cut development prices for their so-called "quality over quantity" (while forgetting to mention how they pissed on localization for Burial at Sea when releasing the first episode).

Pauolo (talk) 17:18, November 15, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Tommy Gun Icon Edit

I wasn't exactly sure where to put the icon. As I was going through the files for the DLC, I found a single file dedicated to new icons for the DLC: Old Man Winter, Radar Range, and the Tommy Gun. I broke them up and uploaded. I also got the Gear and Pickup Item icons, but Pauolo said he'd crop those out (They all appear on one image, and it's annoying to break up the images individually. That, and we don't have pages on them yet, so we'd just have floating images until that happens.) If you want to make a place for it, feel free. --~ɠą§ɔîéɳčę { talk } 20:39, November 15, 2013 (UTC)

Heh, I was gonna comment last night on seeing 6000th picture on this wiki and was gonna joke to you that you 'broke the system'  (actually the pictures are appreciated) . But today I see a notice they are migrating the stored pictures to a new server (and uploads will be diabled in interim).

Testxyz (talk) 07:56, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

Pictures taken from the actual game are best. Screenshots taken from Youtube videos should only be used as filter images until an image from the game is found or the subject only appears in a video, such as something that only appears in a pre-release video.

When looking for images from the game, use only .pngs. Jpgs, such as the images that appear on Steam hubs for games on Steam, have a small but noticeable quality dip compared to a .png taken with something like FRAPS or a TV capture program, depending on the format.

One more thing; putting lots of image on a page is a bad idea, especially on a Wikia wiki. Space is at a premium on Wikia, and putting 15+ images from Youtube videos in a single gallery makes it very hard for readers to find something interesting or what they want to see. If they can't find what they want in a few seconds, they'll go somewhere else. Limiting galleries to a handful of images, like I've been doing, makes pages much more readable.

Need to Know Theater Edit

Hey, I uploaded an image of the Need to Know Theater and it looks like you put a small summation of the page together. The problem is, I was in the process of making the page and you must have finished it before I could hit the "submit" button because when I did, it wiped the information I put together and stated that someone else had already made an intervening edit.

I know you were just trying to help, but, in future, please wait a while so that if someone added a picture they can make whatever changes they intended to make first. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just a little annoyed I had to rewrite all the stuff I added.

Unownshipper (talk) 03:09, November 26, 2013 (UTC)

Oh. Sorry. ZanyDragon (talk) 03:11, November 26, 2013 (UTC)

It's okay, just a heads up.

Re: Rich Text Edit

Honestly, I don't know. Sometimes when a editor copies and pastes a hyperlink or moves a section of information around while in the Visual mode, stuff like this

< span style="line-height:1.5em;" >

will appear in between the spaces in the Source mode. Whenever more senior contributors removed this stuff they always wrote "removing rich text" in the comments section, so I just do the same.

I think it has something to do with the computer code for Wiki pages.

Unownshipper (talk) 22:49, November 26, 2013 (UTC)

About Gear Icons Edit

The issue I have is that, to save space, the edge pixels overlap. You could manually go through cropping each image at the overlapping pixels, but... I can't find something automatic and it's annoying to do. The gears I uploaded from the main game have pixels missing because of the overlapping effect (I think its the right side that has a layer of missing pixels, making it flat). I'd rather if someone is willing, they could cut it correctly. --~ɠą§ɔîéɳčę { talk } 20:48, December 7, 2013 (UTC)

Categorizing Edit

Hi, I know you've been quite helpful around the wikia over the last two months and for that I'm thankful. There hasn't been a lot of people around since the release of BioShock 2 so any useful help is welcome. That's why I want to give you some advice for categorizing, which honestly is the most annoying part about managing a wikia.

First, an useful link. Then some practical thing: when you categorize a page, you should avoid adding a category to a page and a sub-category belonging to the previous one. That way the categories hierarchy is more fluid and less confusing. For example when categorizing the Electronics department, only add "Housewares", which is sub-category of "Burial at Sea - Episode 1 Locations", which itself is a sub-category of "Burial at Sea - Episode 1 DLC".

Teaching is not my forte, so if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them.

Pauolo (talk) 08:03, December 12, 2013 (UTC)

Hello ZanyDragon,

I am the administrator of the German BioShock Wiki. I have seen the audio files of the diaries of Burial at Sea have not been uploaded here. But I have already uploaded in the German Wiki ;). Since I don't know how you to integrate the diaries here, better you care about that ;).

Here is the link to the files:

Apostrophes VS Quotation Marks Edit

I wanted to commend you on your recent work on the Audio Diary pages' transcripts.

I also wanted to note some discrepencies. There are certainly some errors in the audio diaries that have been changed (the page itself notes: The transcripts of Audio Diaries provided in the game often have errors or discrepancies with the actual words of the audio. This has been corrected in the transcripts on BioShock Wiki.), but does that include grammar and punctuation errors?

For example, in It's All Grift, you change the ' ' to " ". Punctutation wise, this is corrrect, but the game has the apostrophes in the transcipt. Alternatively, Running Short on R-34s lists "Eve's apple betties" with the lower case "a," just like it does in the game.

So my question is, are we supposed to make corrections or follow the game transcripts?

Unownshipper (talk) 07:19, December 21, 2013 (UTC)

Whoops. Sorry about that. I hadn't noticed before. I must've hit the wrong key by mistake. ZanyDragon (talk) 13:56, December 21, 2013 (UTC)

Not a problem, I was actually trying to figure out from the whole community what we're supposed to do copy or correct?

Comstock House PictureEdit

Comstock House-Elizabeth

On a seperate note, I was curious why you uploaded this image of Elizabeth when there was already one on the page? Not mad, just confused.

Unownshipper (talk) 04:24, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

Because for some reason, it wasn't turning up on the page. I don't the exact reason (if it was just my computer or what). But it just didn't seem to want to show up. ZanyDragon (talk) 05:03, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Template Edit

I fixed what was causing the template to bug out. It should be working now. I'm actually planning on updating all the BioShock Infinite articles, so this is a fantastic addition. Congrats on creating the template, and happy new year! --Willbachbakal (talk) 20:57, January 1, 2014 (UTC)

The First Lady Edit

Regarding the recent edits to The First Lady:

I like the integrated info from the page First Lady as it fills in the gaps on the events related to the airship throughout the events of BioShock Infinite. However, the page now reads that the craft was Lady Comstock's personal vehicle which she used to get around and carry out her functions.

Is that written or said somewhere and I'm just not remembering it cause that seems pretty unlikely. Even if she is the first lady of Columbia, why would she need her own zeppelin? She'd make an appearance, say a speech, attend a charity, all of which she could do using a simple Hovercraft, not a blimp. More likely, the airship was made as a mobile memorial museum after her death as the article said before the change.

Unownshipper (talk) 08:58, January 8, 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, but I can't. For several of the BaS weapons and Tommy Gunn ammo, the game simply reskins the weapon when you load BaS. The problem is that the model viewer I'm using can't switch skins for a model, so I can only see the original versions of weapons and items, not the BaS versions. This doesn't apply to the Tommy Gun because it's a separate model. Darkman 4 (talk) 07:50, January 16, 2014 (UTC)

About Gear Image Edit

I had been extracting icons for various things in the game, then breaking them up and tossing them onto the site. I don't actually know which icons go to what, as I never really associated them. I might have even uploaded unused icons - There is a large amount of beta UI images in the files. Do as you see fit.

By the way, I just found the texture to Fontaine's book from BaS. Looking for the poster, though. The method I'm taking isn't exactly precise. --~ɠą§ɔîéɳčę { talk } 08:15, January 16, 2014 (UTC)

How do you fly through walls in Bioshock Infinite, is there a mod?

BioShock Wiki Formatting Edit

Because you are one of the more active contributors I wanted to make you aware of the Wiki's formatting guidelines to help you make smoother edits.

I wanted to highlight a few specific things:

1. Images should only be 250px wide, the exceptions are Audio Diary portraits, images that aren't large enough, and some business logos.

2. The "Locations" category only belongs on the large levels in the games. For example anything listed on the "Locations in the BioShock Series" template is a "Location." This means that places like Poseidon Plaza, The Pink Pearl, or Menswear would not get the "BioShock Location," "BioShock 2 Location," or the "Burial at Sea - Episode 1 Location" category. Instead, they would be tagged with the Fort Frolic, Siren Alley, and Fontaine's Department Store categories, respectively.

3. Links to other Wiki pages should be made at the first appearance of the keyword in the article and only once.

I'm not bringing up these points to be mean, I just wanted to make sure you were aware of them so the site can maintain a cohesive appearance.

Unownshipper (talk) 05:50, February 3, 2014 (UTC)

Oh! Just the person I wanted to hear from. Surely you got my message on the Public Announcements. You know, the one about what Daisy Fitzroy says when the Zeppelin appears in the Factory Courtyard? Thank you so much. --ZanyDragon (talk) 05:55, February 3, 2014 (UTC)

RE: BioShock Infinite Public Announcements Edit

Sorry it took so long to reply, I've been busy with other things. I edited Daisy's section in BioShock Infinite Public Address Announcements, and, as best as I can tell, that's what she's saying. Booker and Elizabeth keep speaking ("Someone neeeds to take out the blimp" "Are we volunteering?") at the crucial moment, so it's not perfect.

Someone'll probably need to extract the sound files to hear the whole thing.

Categories Edit

Hello, and good to meet you. I just got back from a lengthy hiatus away from the wiki and have been admiring a lot of the contributions you have made. You've done a lot of good work.

I have noticed you doing some unconventional things with categories, however, and I'd like to offer a few tips.

  1. When you add a category to a page or image, please be sure to create the actual category page if it doesn't exist yet.
  2. Be sure to put the new categories you create in a relevant parent category. For example, when I was cleaning up categories tonight I placed Category:Comstock Center Rooftops Images inside of Category:BioShock Infinite Location Images and Category:Comstock Center Rooftops. We do this because an organized category tree structure makes it easier to keep track of all content on the wiki.
  3. When making a new category for images, please put {{Imagescategory}} below the description on the category page.

Another point I'd like to mention is that we don't usually create categories just for specific image providers (like you did for the Category:Fyeahjlbiggs provided images). It would be better to give Fyeahjlbiggs credit by using the Template:Information on each image page and including a link to him in the source section.

If you have questions about this, or if you need any help, feel free to leave a message on my talk page. ~Gardimuer 15px-Physical_Tonic.png ʈalk } 13:12, February 4, 2014 (UTC)

One word - "maps" Edit

Level maps .....   I'd do it myself but I no longer have access to the Infinite game

I see. Who are you? ZanyDragon (talk) 12:36, February 6, 2014 (UTC)

Categories - part II Edit

First, read what Gardimuer wrote above and consider this: categories such as Neptune's Bounty, Dionysus Park, and any other named after a level from the games are all part of parent categories respectively named BioShock Locations, BioShock 2 Locations, etc... And so, the latter should not be added directly to those pages.

Now, maybe you should have asked yourself why I removed the BioShock Locations category from the levels' pages in the first place before re-adding them yourself, or even directly asked me like Unownshipper did. You've just earned yourself some extra work.

Pauolo (talk) 15:41, February 7, 2014 (UTC)

Oh. I see where this is going. ZanyDragon (talk) 15:51, February 7, 2014 (UTC)

Keeping the old pages with categories and parent ones at the same time was a mistake which should have been changed a while. That should also be applied to pages related to areas inside those levels, for example Rapture Records or Le Marquis d'Epoque. I wonder if the majority of work left here lies not in the new content brought by the latest games but in the oldest pages created on the wiki. :S
Pauolo (talk) 17:09, February 7, 2014 (UTC)

Dude, thanks for all the help you've been doing with the Wiki (everyone really appreciates it), but I feel like we keep coming back to the same problem again and again:
The Lighthouse · Welcome Center · Comstock Center Rooftops · Monument Island · Battleship Bay · Soldier's Field · Hall of Heroes · Finkton Docks · Finkton Proper · Shantytown · Factory · Emporia · Downtown Emporia · Comstock House · Hand of the Prophet · Sea of Doors
The above are all "BioShock Infinite Locations." Any other place is just a smaller part of those locations. When you keep adding the "BioShock Infinite Locations" category to pages that don't require it, someone else has to go back and take it off (which makes us feel like you're not listening and it's wasted effort).
Unownshipper (talk) 23:10, February 15, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for helping with the Mask page. Purely out of curiousity, where did you get the names for the images you added to the Gallery (Laughing Jester, Kelpie, etc.)? Are they listed somewhere or how did you find them?

Categories - part III Edit

Please, just stop adding categories. You're not following the Manual of Style, so leave that to Unownshipper or me and stop re-adding those which had been removed by the both of us. Pauolo (talk) 19:00, February 17, 2014 (UTC)

Exactically what is this Manual of style you speak of? I'd like to read it. ZanyDragon (talk) 19:17, February 17, 2014 (UTC)

That, or more precisely this page for categories. Now if you still don't believe me, ask Gardimuer but until then, just stop re-adding unnecessary categories. It is wasting both your time and mine, and I don't want to tell you that a third time. Pauolo (talk) 20:49, February 17, 2014 (UTC)

Re:Hazards Edit

Hazards like opened from tears and such? By memory I would say there are oil slicks, water puddles, and Tesla coils. That said if you want the big picture, oil slicks and water puddles can be found "naturally" too (with some electrified) in each game, even BioShock 2's multiplayer. You may also consider any explosive barrels and the like, but I wouldn't call them environmental since you can move them. Honestly I'm not sure there are enough different hazards to be mentioned on a page, but it can be considered a special type of Tears, with others being supply and support. Pauolo (talk) 21:25, February 17, 2014 (UTC)

Like I said, water puddles and oil slicks were really common in the first games so they could serve to enhance the effect of the Electro Bolt and Incinerate! plasmids. You can also make electrified water walls in the multiplayer maps from certain leaks. Finally there were electrified water puddles (like in Fontaine's, where Bucking Bronco is at the beginning of the Electronics department building) which could be secured by using switches (most of the times with a timer before it switched back into its initial position), or simply served as obstacles and you had to jump on emerged platforms to cross them. They were also simple fires, but I doubt they count since they don't help much. That's pretty much what I can think of as environmental hazards in those games. Pauolo (talk) 21:51, February 17, 2014 (UTC)

Rapture Inhabitants Edit

I would really appreciate it if you would please not add the Rapture Inhabitants page to each character in the BioShock series. The article is unnecessary as is and, frankly, I think it should be deleted as the information covered on it is discussed on other pages such as the Rapture Civil War, Rapture Storyline, and Splicer pages. All the information on the Rapture Inhabitants page is already on the BioShock Characters, BioShock 2 Characters, and BioShock 2 Multiplayer Characters pages, so it's doubly useless.

Rather than just undoing ALL of your edits and get into a lengthy edit/re-edit encounter, I'd rather you and I discuss this first and get your OK.

Unownshipper (talk) 06:43, February 24, 2014 (UTC)

Not a problem at all, I just don't want us to get ahead of ourselves just yet.

Updated Artbook Image Edit

Hello. I noticed you uploaded a picture of a physical artbook page, Vigor Junkies. I've actually had the digital artbook sorted out manually since around the time it came out, although I've kept it to myself. (Because I personally bought the book, but sharing the pages so soon would be conflicting.) With Irrational Games' eminent closing, as well as the time since release, I've uploaded the clean version over yours: File:J4cJRDh.jpg. Are there any other pages I could update? --~ɠą§ɔîéɳčę { talk } 18:16, February 25, 2014 (UTC)

Ah, could you link them? In case you don't know, to link files, you add a : before the page name, like I did in the entry above this. You can look at the source of this section for example. --~ɠą§ɔîéɳčę { talk } 00:31, March 1, 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for reporting the above vandal. I've banned him for a month and deleted the spam he created. It's also good that you reacted quickly before he could go on another spree. As far as vandals go, this one's pretty trifling, actually. When BioShock 2 came out there was this huge wave of vandalism sprees, and each vandal often went across dozens of mainspace articles before they got shut down. Sorry to keep you waiting. :| --Willbachbakal (talk) 21:43, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

The Extra Space Edit

Hey, I've noticed you've been doing an exhaustive effort editing all of the Audio Diary pages. It looks like you've been adding an extra space at the bottom of the articles. I was just wondering why? We could assist you if we know what the end goal is.

Unownshipper (talk) 21:47, April 25, 2014 (UTC)

Hey, you didn't reply previously, but I wanted to ask again why you've added the extra space at the bottom of the different pages? Is it a formatting thing, cause I haven't seen it on other pages before?

Unownshipper (talk) 20:29, May 15, 2014 (UTC)

That's all well and good, but I'm pretty sure that with a few exceptions, there should only be one space between each heading. I'm not trying to be obsessive over little details, it's just that there's recently been a push for more accurate formatting (ie, including a link to a main article [like BioShock] below a heading rather than in the heading itself).

Re:A screenshot of Wahl's office Edit

Ok first, when you start a new conversation on someone's talk page, add a title so I can see it directly instead of searching through the page's historic to see where you wrote. Now for the screenshot, I haven't replayed Minerva's Den since BioShock 2 went on Steam (in fact I only played it once when it released on PC in 2011), so right now I can't jump into Operations for the pic. I'll do eventually it if I have some time to replay it. Pauolo (talk) 11:33, May 5, 2014 (UTC)

This isn't an image, but b/c of a misunderstanding it's marked as one & can't be unmarked.

I greatly appreciate the work you're doing to help categorize the pictures that are added to the Wiki. Your work ensures that the pictures aren't lost within the cyberspace of the Wiki. However, I wanted to clarify something. I recently added several images of the Apollo Square level. By the time I went back to categorize them, I saw that you had already taken care of it for me. Then I noticed they were marked with the category "Apollo Square Images." This is incorrect as the pictures are technically screenshots (literally a shot of everything on the user's screen) while "images" fall under the criteria of stuff taken from the game files, concept art, etc.

I went ahead and created the "Apollo Square Screenshots" category and reorganized the pictures, but it looks like you undid those changes. I'll revert those edits, I just wanted to explain the different category options available to us. Thanks again for your work.

Re: Something in the Sea Edit

To be honest, I don't know that much about the whole There's Something in the Sea thing. I had yet to learn of the amazingness that is the BioShock series when the campaign was up and running, and later I found the whole story to be contrived and pedestrian. I don't know if I'd be able to track down any of the needed pictures, writings, information, etc. related to the thing, but I'd be happy to try and help with whatever you might need.

Re: Comstock House Edit

I agree that it's important to show pictures of the different places on a level, just not right there. None of the other pages have a gallery style listing under the different sections, so I objected for the sake of continuity. Following that thought, the captions beneath all of the images should be italicized (I'm pretty sure it's listed in the Wiki's Style Guide).

Can you help me? Edit

Can you please tell me how you hide the player's hands, weapons, HUD icons, and heath bar in Bioshock 2 and in Bioshock Infinite? I am trying to take good quality screenshots with FRAPS Game Recording Software. Can you tell me what I have to do to remove the: Heads Up Display, Weapons and Other Icons within the Game?

Re: Link to audio file issue Edit

That's weird, mostly because other audio diaries pages are fine. I'm not sure Gardimuer can be of much help here though. /:

I'll look into it, see what the problem is here.

EDIT: I can't find any issue in the file nor the page, and none were edited to end with this result. It seems more like a wikia issue than something we can solve ourselves. Pauolo (talk) 10:42, July 10, 2014 (UTC)

Choosing Just the Right Words Edit

Hey, I'm asking all the regular and semi-regular contributors if they can help me come up with labels to finish up the BioShock 2 part of the Splicer models' appearance section. Would you kindly sheck out my blog and propose a line if you have any in mind: User blog:Unownshipper/Choosing Just the Right Words

Multiplayer Sites Edit

I saw that you added non-existant links to a number of the pages on the BioShock 2 Multiplayer Locations articles. Are you intending to make pages for each of those? I plead with you to reconsider if you are. Do we really need an individual article devoted to "The Glamour Suite" of Mercury Suites (BioShock 2 Multiplayer) or "The Hamilton" of Pauper's Drop (BioShock 2 Multiplayer)? The fact is not much is known or necessary regarding any of those small sections.

Before making your decision, would you please make a blog post asking for input and opinions from the other contributors on the matter or at least check in with Tricksteroffools? I think that this is a perfect instance where group collaboration would either make the process go more smoothly or prevent a large number of pages that the team doesn't want from being made.

With respect, Unownshipper (talk) 07:40, September 16, 2014 (UTC)

In my opinion, I do not think we have enough information or story for these locations to warrant an individual page for them. Unlike articles like Tree Farm, despite it's lack of importance and information other than Jack to traverse through, Multiplayer Characters don't have a story point within their environments and each location may or may not being canonically parallel to the original maps. As with locations like Silverwing Apiary found the in MP version of Farmer's Market, we have knowledge from the previous games that we can add into the snippets or narrative sections. But as far as I can tell, these locations are simply inspired by their respective maps and areas, or influenced. Maybe we can expand upon the snippets or I and others can work in elements into the Narrative portion? Tricksteroffools (talk) 07:56, September 16, 2014 (UTC)
Didn't the Hamilton appear in single player somewhere or I'm a just way of.
Shacob (talk) 17:41, September 16, 2014 (UTC)
The Hamilton is in the single player Paupers Drop level (where the detective Rock Flanagan who had owned the pawnd Research Camera had his office I think).
Most/all of the Multiplayer maps were warped significantly to match the way that the Multiplayer games operate (a closed off small area with lots of circular paths). 00:36, September 17, 2014 (UTC)

Info from Game FilesEdit

I wanted to ask you a question regarding your recent contributions to some of the Audio Diaries. A number of the diaries you've edited are the newly added unused files contributed by Pauolo.

In No Splicing for Grace, you added two extra question marks to the end of the line: "Why would I ever touch that stuff???"

In Business Arrangement, you added a comma after the word Hey: "Hey, Murphy, it's Dodge."

In Playing Doctor, you added two sets of apostrophes to the grunt and changed "Ok" to "Okay": "Doctor: NNNGGH!" & "Okay, Doctor, you can get up now."

In Oh, the Golden Light!, you added a comma after the word "beautiful": "Oh, the golden light! This place is so beautiful, now that the Lamb has arrived."

There are other similar examples. I need to ask if you've been making these changes because you can read the game files too and this is how the transcripts look in the code or if you took it upon yourself to make the changes? I just wanted to clarify.

Unownshipper (talk) 05:41, November 3, 2014 (UTC)

I didn't hear back from you regarding your edits, maybe you were busy or didn't notice the post. I just wanted to ask again, are you editing the transcripts for the unused audio diaries and radio messages because you have access to the game codes and you're trying to match how they look in their files or are you editing based on intuition?

Re: Revcharge.jpg Edit

The image in question was deleted because it was marked as a Low Quality Image. The pic was very blurry, the HUD took up the majority of the space, there was nothing of particular value clearly visible (you can see an enemy [the siren, one of her henchmen?] being drained of HP, but it's too far away to tell who). It doesn't help to have multiple low-quality images on the site, especially when there are multiple/similar images already on here.

I hope this anwers your question satisfactorily. Please remember to create a new heading the next time you leave a post on the talk.

RE: BioShock 2 Maps Edit

As far as I know, just by using the images from Template:MapKeyBio2 and paste them where necessary. If I'm not mistaken, the images have to be scaled back to 40 by 40 pixels, but I'm not sure about that. Mainframe98 talk·edits 06:49, March 22, 2015 (UTC)
It's actually 25 by 25 pixels, although it may vary (one or two pixels) on some maps. Mainframe98 talk·edits 11:43, March 22, 2015 (UTC)

Re: Game Files Edit

I'm not sure how to access the game files, but what I do know is that it requires both a complex understanding of how to read sophistacted code and access to certain software that opens the game's data folders to normal users.

So far, only Pauolo has been able to find the information related to the BioShock 2 Removed Content audio diaries and Radio Messages, that's why he created those articles. Despite this, you've been editing those articles. I find this frustrating and counterproductive because, thus far, only he has access to how those messages should be formatted. The transcripts should appear the way the look in the files, that's why a number of your edits have been undone.

Re: Corpses Edit

I'm not sure what you mean by that. Which corpses in what other locations? Could you clarify? UpgradeTech (talk) 22:25, April 10, 2015 (UTC)

Oh, I was never involved with counting how many corpses are in the levels. I just have the model renders which are extracted from the map files, but don't have any indication how they are used.
I know that the maps on the main level pages have the ADAM Corpse symbols showing how many and where they are, but they don't show what the models are. UpgradeTech (talk) 01:02, April 11, 2015 (UTC)

Repetitive Problems Edit

Dear ZanyDragon,

Since you've been a member of this site, you've amassed a large number of edits. You've greatly helped us by catching small mistakes and other details that might have otherwise gone unnoticed and correcting them. You've also done excellent work with adding useful categoies to images and have helped by expanding different articles. For these contributions, we're all very grateful.

However, there are some edits that you've made that have been less useful, and have even raised some concerns. I just now had to roll back a series of edits you made to the Quotes sections of the Baby Jane and Waders articles. In them, you moved the apostrophe marks (') to the outside of the quotation marks ("). On this site (in fact, on every other page), the apostrophe marks go inside the quote marks for lines of dialogue.

This is a minor mistake, but it follows years of other similar mishandlings including repeated improper use of the "Locations" category, adding an extra space at the bottom of the article pages for aesthetic reasons, uploading redundant or low-quality pictures that contain the HUD element, taking it upon yourself to edit the unused Audio Diaries transcripts despite having no access to the source files, or any of a series of other formatting mistakes. These contibutions have gone from simple misunderstandings to nuisance edits. These could all be easily forgiven, but it feels like you're purposefully disregarding the attempts made by your fellow contributors to correct the mistakes/explain why they're wrong. This has lead more than a few contibutors to grow irritated/hostile to your presence here.

I do not want to make you feel unwanted on this site. As I said before, your presence and your contributions are welcome on the Wiki. I'd just appreciate a reason behind why you take it upon yourself to make some of these changes/contibutions or why the same mistakes keep being made. Even a simple assurance that more formatting mistkaes won't be made in the future would be great. I'm simply inviting you to work more closely with us.

With respect,

Unownshipper (talk) 07:55, April 11, 2015 (UTC)

Re: Corpses Edit

I don't think i'd be able to get back to those levels for a while so although I could get the locations off the map, I wont know what model is used for each corpse. There's a number of other pages I want to work on first. Night at the Kashmir (talk) 20:46, May 13, 2015 (UTC)

Sorry for my poor english skill. I tried to explain 'duplicated'. Well, those Boy of Silence in Warden's office is 'overlapped' with 3rd image of gallery( same Red State ). I prefer to put that image in Warden's office or Comstock house, not in Boy in Silence. Anyway, I will replace it with more higher quality later.

Don't Change the Transcripts Edit

You've been on this site for a very long period, and in that time you've done many edits. Everyone here is grateful your attention and dedication. When you catch a misspelling or misinformation and correct it, you're helping the wiki. However, it's no secret that we've had issues with some of your edits regarding formatting or site policy; take for example, the problem we had a while back with you adding categories improperly.

Still, that's not what I'd like to talk about. Whether it's written down or not, the procedure here on the site is to write the dialogue for Audio Diaries and Radio Messages the way they appear in the game; AKA, not how they sound when spoken by the voice actors.

There are a few reasons why this is the case:

  1. When there are differences between the written line and the voice actor's delivery, are we too assume that the voice actor went offscript or that the game designer decided to change the narrative later and there wasn't time for a re-recording? It's hard to say, but the designer knows the story more than the VA does, so we should trust the way they wrote out the line .
  2. Some editors actively choose to but emphasis on some words over others depending on how the actor spoke the line. By insisting that the transcript mirror the written dialogue, we prevent them from inputing their own bias.
  3. Similarly, some people change up the punctuation based on how the VA spoke the line.

Despite this, you've made some recent changes to the BioShock 2 Multiplayer Audio Diaries and BioShock 2 Radio Messages (both used and unused). These have pretty much all been undone. To my knowledge, YOU do not have access to the unused radio messages from the game files, so when you edit the transcript, you're editing based on your opinion, and we cannot have that on the site. In future, please do not edit the transcripts based on how you think it should look, go by how the lines appear in the game.

I hope I've made myself clear on this subject, so that we may move beyond it and continue with improving the site. If not, please speak to me because I'm afraid that if this activity reappears in the future, I will have to ban you from editing for a temporary period.

Shnookums and Meat on Disney Wikia Edit

Hello, I know this not relevant to this wikia, but I still need you edit something to this site if you don't mind. Can you please add the "likes" and "dislikes" lists on to the character info box? Thank u.

Likes: Each other, watching cartoons, their owners

Dislikes: Each other (sometimes), getting into trouble

PS: I can't even add this on that site by myself because that site won't let me edit it anonymously, just in case you're wondering

Sincerely, anonymous

Re: Map IconsEdit

Sorry for the late reply. I'm not an active editor any more, so these days I'm not a very reliable source of information.

Regarding the maps, I created a tutorial back when the project was ongoing: BioShock_Wiki:Map_Project

You can skip the steps about screenshoting the maps, since the wiki already has base images which you can use as a starting point. So your steps would go like so:

  1. Download the map images for each level.
  2. Use an image editing software (such as GIMP) to add the icons to the maps in the correct locations.
  3. Upload your new map images as separate files with appropriate names and categories according to the guidelines.
  4. Follow the guide for making ImageMaps.
  5. Follow the guide for making subpages.
  6. Follow the guidelines for adding tabs to the Tabview on the level page.

Your Screenshots Edit

Hi, glad to see that you have returned! I've noted the screenshots of BioShock Infinite that you recently took (I assume) and the quality of them are actually quite good: well lit, no "extreme cutting of edges" and the subject is well in place. But unfortunately, some of them break the BioShock Wiki:Image Policy (such as containing the HUD, ex the gun, health bar or aim when they are not the prime subject) and thus have to be replaced.

However, I can tell that you want to help so I will give you a tip: Download Cheat Engine.

I have recently been able to get HUD-less screenshots of BioShock Infinite thanks the Cheat Engine, as well as screenshots taken from higher angles or out of reach places.

Here are the links:

Once you get the hang of it, it is actually really easy to use. If you decide to try it and need help, then contact me without hesitation. Other users, as well as Digital Frontiers uses the engine.

While on the subject of Digital Frontiers, I've also seen that you have uploaded some of his screenshots. while that is helpful and well appreciated, they need to be renamed. We can't have files named "U3thUN7.png" or "R7EueOc.png" on the wiki. When I name files, I try to specify the game, location and subject = "BioI Dionysus Park Promenade Bouncer Big Daddy Attacking Lady Smith Splicer.png". You can name them anyway you like as long as it fits the image.

Hope to see your continued effort!

Re: Model rendersEdit

I know where to find the majority of the posters in BioShock and BioShock 2:

However, models renders of items in-game as well as the posters from BioShock Infinite are usually found in the game files, which is not really my forte. I suggest that you contact User:UpgradeTech, User:Mainframe98 or User:Solarmech if you're interested in that: they have uploaded a lot of the much-appreciated models on this Wikia, straight from the game files.

--Shacob (talk) 20:45, August 29, 2018 (UTC)

RE: Interactive Maps Edit

Each level of the map has its own page, such as Simon Wales' Church/L2, for Level 2 of Simon Wales' Church. On this page, the {{Wide image-noborder}} template is used to display the image page wide.

Aside from the background color (managed by |bgcolor=, the only parameter that template takes is an image map. This image map allows you to specify specific areas that should be clickable. To use Simon Wales' Church/L2 as an example; there is one non-transparent icon, for El Ammo Bandito, on that map. To make it clickable, you define a circle with the coordinates of the icon in the image map, as I've done here: Special:Diff/228851. I've used Paint.Net to find the exact pixel position of the El Ammo Bandito icon, Paint.Net (but also regular Paint) show the pixel location of the mouse cursor, so when you place the mouse near the icon, you can find out what its pixel coordinates are. Now, since we're dealing with a simple circle, using the circle type of image map suffices here. The first two numbers indicate the center point of the circle, and the third the radius of the circle. This is covered in more detail on mw:Extension:ImageMap#Examples and the section below it, Syntax description.

I hope this helps, let me know if I'm missing something. Mainframe98 talk·blog·edits 08:12, August 31, 2018 (UTC)
